Backpacks are an excellent choice for children's
bags. Backpacks are generally multipurpose,
can carry more volume and
easier to carry because they distribute the bag's weight
across the bag. There are many things to consider when purchasing
a backpack for kids, but fashion shouldn't be one of them;
at least it shouldn't be for you (your child will beg to
differ).
That is not to say that your child's self identify is not
important, but there are many more important things to for you consider!
First and foremost, you should know what your child will use
his/her backpack for.
If it's for school or the day care, you will need to check
the size of the lockers available at the centre. Your kid's
backpack will need to fit into the lockers. Some schools may also have
rules on styles or colours. You will also need to consider your
child's size (unless you are the one who will carry your
child's bag to school every day). If your child needs to
carry only a few textbooks, there's no need to get the
biggest bag available!
The ergonomic design of your child's backpacks is also
very important. An ill-fitting backpack can cause back aches or even
worse, neck injuries to your child. Be use to learn how to get the
right measurements for your child's needs.
The age of your child may also determine what type of
backpack you should get. The fact that your child wants Hello Kitty
this year and Winks the next may prompt you to get lower grade and
cheaper bags, but the real reason may be that your child will outgrow
his/her backpack very quickly.
Backpacks also come in various fit for purpose designs.
Although they are still multi-purpose in nature, backpacks are designed
with different number of compartments and inner linings for specific
use.
Hiking packs will have compartments for water bottles; gym packs will
have compartments for shoes. All will still fit textbooks for school
nicely, although you probably don't want to be paying for
more than you need.
Finally, backpacks are no longer restricted to the good old
design of back carry packs. Backpacks today come in straps, roll and
sling. Straps are the traditional design, although modern straps come
in a variety in themselves. Rolling backpacks come equipped with
wheels, much like luggage cases, your child don't even need
to put them on his/her back.
Sling packs usually have only one strap for wearing across the chest.
They come across as trendy and fashionable, popular with older
children, especially those who don't need to carry much
weight with them.
Remember, for children's backpack, design is important. And by
design, we mean a lot more than it's aesthetic appearance.
